The complexity of the business today requires that our company provide value to our customers by responding quickly to their needs with creative solutions and innovative ideas. We know that diversity is essential to innovation and that inclusion converts diversity into results.
The people that we attract from the communities that we serve are more diverse than ever. People who are different in ways that we can see and in ways that we cannot. By working with people from different backgrounds and with different experiences and working styles, we learn and get another view. Diverse views make for better decisions, and thus drive a high-performance culture and ultimately value for our clients.
We want and need all of our employees to know that their thoughts matter and so we encourage them to speak out. People leaders are learning how to use cross-cultural agility to enable the collective differences of their teams. This improves the probability of more effective interactions not only within the team but also with customers and trade partners.
ACI is creating a culture that allows us to bring more of ourselves to work. When that happens, we get closer to senior leadership’s vision for the future. A vision that makes Atlantic Constructors the envy of its peers, the go-to firm for the things we do, and most importantly, an employer of choice that has earned the reputation for being one of the best places in Virginia to work.
Are You Ready To Be Great?
ACI and the Associated Builders & Contractor’s (ABC) completed an apprenticeship makeover this past year. In Richmond, students currently attend classes in the day program for the HVAC, Plumbing & Electrical Trades. Welding/Pipefitting is in the works as an upcoming two-year program and Sheet Metal is under consideration as an additional two-year program. Our program has expanded and we currently have students enrolled for evening apprenticeships in Charlottesville, Newport News and Roanoke. Go us!
So why do it?
– Learn new skills
– Enhance your current strengths
– Improve the skills with which you are least comfortable
– Prepare yourself to complete your Journeyman’s exam
Registration for upcoming classes will begin in the summer. Join our team and let your ACI supervisor know that you are ready to be great and want to join the apprenticeship program.
We look forward to meeting you!
The Trade Trainee Program was created by ACI as an opportunity to hire unskilled workers who show an aptitude for one of our skilled trade positions and have them receive concentrated, in-house training for that trade. The program for all trade positions lasts approximately four weeks, with the exception of the welding program, which may take approximately three to four months. Depending on the position, result and timing, the Trade Trainee would then typically progress to a Helper position or enroll in an ACI-sponsored Apprenticeship Program.
This is a tremendous opportunity for trainees to do something they love, receive paid training and land a career– not just a job!
